Welcome to the blog

time to introduce myself - your health and wellness coach

My name is Salomé Abeger, your new health and wellness coach! I come from a very small island called Reunion Island. It is French territory so I am french.

Growing up on an island for 14 years, you run out of activities to do. You would either found me at the beach, pool, boat, or even at a gym. It was kind of normal for us as physical activities where the only thing to do.

I first got into sports with my mom, she owned a dance company for 25 years so you can imagine how many years I was dancing haha. I started at around 2.5 years old.

And then as I got older I got to do a lot of sports like tennis, soccer, rugby, riding horses, surfing and judo. The two that stuck out the most and I continued doing for years were surfing and judo.

I used to ask my parents to take me to the ocean where the waves were, but most of the time I would just have to walk outside of our yard to the lagoon because they couldn’t drive me that far to go surfing.

Although I loved the lagoon, I would always jump on a surfboard or kayak paddling all the way to the barrier reef to catch the waves with my little brothers.

Surfing was definitely one of my passion and still is. It allows me to be as one with the ocean.

I participated in both sports very intensively and started competing a lot in both surfing and judo. I was also competing in dancing but not as much.

At the age of 12 years old, I got really serious was judo. Competing every weekend, traveling to camps, getting recruited for different teams, etc. My coach and I really focused on that future there. It was starting to really become serious.

So as a teenager, I was training multiples times a week, and really grinding it out.  Surfing on the weekends but it was more for fun at that point.

At 14 years old, my parents decided to move out of the island and head to Noosa, Australia.

So here I was learning a whole other language. Cause mind you.. I did not speak a word of English and got thrown into the school. (honestly the best thing that could’ve happened as I became fluent in 3-4 months).

I found a judo club and there it was.. back tot he grind! Except this time wayy more serious!

I trained 2X a day. One in the morning before school- that would be conditioning. And one in the afternoon that was technical and sparring. My health and wellness coach also got me on a diet.

On the weekend, my parents would drive me 2 hours to go train with the Queensland team as I was on the state team and was getting ready to compete in Nationals.

At 15 years old, training that much was hard but amazing. With a goal of going to the Olympics, I trained day and night, breathed and lived the sport.

In July 2012 I become Australian National Champion!

This is when the real training started. After winning Nationals I qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics.

So I started training harder and better. As well as my nutrition. This is how I got started with health and wellness.

But unfortunately since I was not Australian the government did not want to give me and my family the citizenship…

So 1 month later we had to leave the country and we moved to Florida, USA.

When I first got to Florida, to be honest with you I 100% gave up on everything.

I just did not care anymore..

My dream was crushed and there was nothing I could do about it..

So I totally let myself go the last 2 years of high school. I gained about 20+ lbs, I ate like total crap and I just didn’t care..

When I graduated high school.

I started coaching in our mixed martial arts gym locally with students and women bootcamp while I studied for my Bachelors degree.

And this is when I realized that being a health and wellness coach was a dream of mine.

It was the kick in the butt I needed and got myself into shape. I also got into competing in surfing again so I was back on track.

I soon realized that working for myself had always been my dream and this was a passion of mine I could do from anywhere in the world 🌎 ⁣
